About Tanay Roy

Trader by passion, builder by habit. Tanay Roy writes trading scripts, testing tools and books on validating strategies before you risk money on them.

Trading is my passion, not my profession

I’m Tanay Roy.

I didn’t come to the markets from a trading desk. I came from data. My career was in data analytics, including leadership roles at two startups. I also hold a CFA (ICFAI) charter.

In 2020 the pandemic hit my consulting business hard. I turned to something I had always been drawn to: financial markets.

The theory didn’t survive first contact with real trading. So I did what a data person does.

If it can’t be tested, it can’t be trusted

I started coding every strategy I came across: from books, websites, YouTube. Then I tested them.

Most of the claims didn’t hold up.

Reading Market Wizards changed how I saw all of it. Trading is a game of probabilities. No single trade matters. What matters is how a method behaves across a large sample, and whether you can apply it consistently.

That became my rule. If a strategy can’t be written as code, it’s too vague to trade. If it can’t be tested, it shouldn’t be trusted.

My loop is simple: build the idea, code it, test it, trade it, analyse what happened, and repeat.

What you’ll find here

This site is where I share that work.

  • Scripts. Indicators and strategies for TradingView, with MetaTrader and AmiBroker to follow. Most are free and open source.
  • Tools. I’m the founder and chief contributor of JSKAPPS, where I build testing tools like Candlestick Stats, the Binary Option Ultimate Backtester and JSK TradeProof.
  • Books. Binary Options Strategy Validation is out now, and Seven Tests Before You Go Live is on the way.
  • Research. Backtests, tutorials and notes on testing strategies honestly.

Nothing here is a signal service or investment advice. It’s a set of tools and ideas for checking things yourself.
